SK x Ryan DaWalt EMF Anophony #1
Captured during Electromagnetism at Gloria’s Project Space (NYC, 2025), this one-of-a-kind Painting + Recording set documents electricity and magnetism transmitted into sound.
In this performance, the circuit united Si Golraine, painting with fluctuating voltage directly on titanium, and Ryan DaWalt, reading magnetic fields through an instrument he invented and engineered over a composition of neodymium magnets. Gerry Gonzales translated these living electrical and magnetic currents into modular synthesis - merging the two foundational natural forces into a single sonic field.
The titanium surface holds the visible trace of energy’s passage, while the accompanying recording captures its audible frequency. Together, they form an archive of a fleeting event - an embodiment of unity between electricity, magnetism, and human presence.
Materials & Dimensions: Electricity and neodymium magnets on titanium, 23 × 30 × 1 inches.
